Thanks for sharing this very sad news with us. I too would like to add some words to the condolence book if I may. I met Luis 10 years ago when I was working as a research associate at IDRC. Despite our differences in seniority and experience, Luis engaged me intellectually and professionally on an equal basis and with great respect. He challenged me intellectually, and at the same time, let himself also be challenged. His support, guidance, mentorship, humility and most of all, his sincere heart, have been an invaluable example to me over the years - as I’m sure they have been to others as well. He followed his principles and values, and was a sharing soul, and I respected him greatly for this. My heart goes out to his wife Elisabeth, his children, his family, and his close friends and colleagues. He will be dearly missed.
