Let me also add my “virtual signature” to the condolence book: Luis was such a lively and engaging friend, this loss will certainly be felt around the globe. Your list of email addresses in the header only reflects a small fraction of the many lives that his constant and thoughtful support has changed and improved: as a mentor, as someone always ready to challenge our assumptions, and as a builder and supporter of networks. Even in the midst of his illness, I will remember that Luis retained his sharp intellect, sense of humour, and curiosity about the lives we lead.
